Chapters

Each meeting topic can be assigned to a chapter. Chapters structure minutes into thematically related sections, such as General, Costs, Deadlines, Planning, and Permits/Regulatory Procedures.

In the Chapters settings dialog, you can rename existing chapters and define new ones. iPROT supports two chapter levels for this purpose. To change the order of chapters within the minutes, simply drag and drop a chapter using the small arrow cross to the left of the chapter name – up or down to reorder, or left or right to assign it as a sub-chapter of another chapter.

You can also assign chapters on a per-project basis or create project-specific chapters. To do so, select the desired project from the dropdown in the Chapters settings dialog. In the list that appears, you can modify, add, or delete chapters for the selected project only.

Chapters can also be copied from an existing project. To do so, select the source project from the dropdown at the top right of the Chapters settings dialog. Clicking the Apply button copies the chapters into the project selected in the left area of the dialog. Note that iPROT detects identical chapter names and will not copy duplicates – only chapters that do not yet exist in the target project are copied. The copied chapters are appended to the end of the existing chapter list and can then be manually reordered within the current project.

NOTE
Please note that write permissions are always required to edit the chapter list. Administrator rights are required for the Transfer chapter from project function.

iPROT is delivered by default with a so-called “Default Project”. This Default Project already contains a number of predefined chapters. The Default Project can of course be extended with additional chapters to serve as a template for other projects, and the chapter order can be adjusted as needed.

NOTE
Please also note that changes to chapter names or chapter order have no effect on other projects. Even if such changes are made in the Default Project, all other projects and their chapter structures remain unaffected.

To create minutes without a chapter structure, simply leave the chapter field empty when creating new topics. If iPROT detects that no chapters are being used within a meeting type, no chapter headings will be displayed in the minutes.

NOTE
If a project contains only a single chapter, that chapter will be displayed in the iPROT interface but will not appear in the PDF version of the minutes. At least two chapters must exist in the project for chapter headings to appear in the PDF.
